Come Unto Me

1

Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed,

“O ye heavy-laden, come to Me and rest;

Come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear,

Bring Me every burden, bring Me ev'ry care.”

Refrain:

Come unto Me; I will give you rest;

Take My yoke upon you, hear Me and be blest;

I am meek and lowly, come and trust My might;

Come, My yoke is easy, and My burden’s light.

2

Are you disappointed, wand’ring here and there,

Dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care?

Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast?

Bring your case to Jesus, He will give you rest. [Chorus]

3

Stumbling on the mountains dark with sin and shame,

Stumbling toward the pit of hell’s consuming flame;

By the pow’rs of sin deluded and oppressed,

Hear the tender Shepherd, “Come to Me and rest.” [Chorus]

4

Have you by temptation often conquered been,

Has a sense of weakness brought distress within?

Christ will sanctify you, if you’ll claim His best,

In the Holy Spirit He will give you rest. [Chorus]

Come Unto Me

1

O heart bowed down with sorrow!

O eyes that long for sight!

There's gladness in believing;

In Jesus there is light.

Refrain:

"Come unto me, all ye that labor,

and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

2

Earth's fleeting gain and pleasure

Can never satisfy;

'Tis love our joy doth measure,

For love can never die. [Refrain]

3

Divinest consolation

Doth Christ the Healer give;

Art thou in condemnation?

Repent, believe and live. [Refrain]

4

His peace is like a river,

His love is like a song;

His yoke's a burden never;

'Tis easy all day long. [Refrain]

Come to Jesus

1

Come to Jesus, He will save you,

Though your sins as crimson glow,

If you give your heart to Jesus,

He will make it white as snow.

2

Come to Jesus do not tarry,

Enter in at mercy’s gate,

O delay not till the morrow,

Lest Thy coming be too late.

3

Come to Jesus, dying sinner,

Other Savior there is none,

He will share with you His glory,

When your pilgrimage is done.

Refrain

Come to Jesus! Come to Jesus!

Come to Jesus! come today!

Come to Jesus! Come to Jesus!

Come to Jesus! come, come today!

This video is a genuine representation of how you would hear this song in a typical Church of Christ. No piano or organ. Lots of four-part harmony.

Come, Thou Almighty King

1

Come, Thou Almighty King,

Help us Thy name to sing,

Help us to praise.

Father, all glorious,

O’er all victorious,

Come, and reign over us,

Ancient of Days.

2

Come, Thou incarnate Word,

Gird on Thy mighty sword

Our prayer attend:

Come, and Thy people bless,

And give Thy word success;

Spirit of holiness,

On us descend.

3

Come, holy Comforter,

Thy sacred witness bear

In this glad hour:

Thou who Almighty art,

Now rule in every heart,

And ne’er from us depart,

Spirit of power.

4

To Thee, great One in Three,

Eternal praises be

Hence evermore.

Thy sov’reign majesty

May we in glory see,

And to eternity

Love and adore.

Here's a fascinating bit of Biblical prophecy, from which the song derives the phrase "Ancient of Days"

Daniel 7

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. 15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; 20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Grandma's Song

All along the old back road, the people stopped to talk at her garden gate

while inside the family cried all through the night

because the old woman had passed away...

I loved her so and oh she was a special one

a lovely lady and a gentle old soul

and she taught me to sing an old folk song

it's got a melody of a hundred years ago

and she sang a come a lou come a lou come a high low

come down the merry stream

I'm remembering...

those memories have given me so much

she wore her age so gracefully

and there was not a living thing that she did not love

and I pray that there is a little of her in me

Oklahoma in the summertime

in her rocking chair she's a singin there on the porch

while the hounds are howling through the hot black night

and that ole fox he's a runnin like he never has done before

when you hear the melody and when

I play my song, every note you hear from me she'd sing right along

and she sang a come a lou come a lou come a high low

come down the merry stream

I'm remembering...

all along the old back road the people stopped to talk at her garden gate

while inside the family cried all through the night...

did you hear that old Mrs. Whitten

has passed away today...

come a lou come a lou come a high low

come down the merry stream

come a ran tan tan and a dippy dippy dow

hear the row the bow wow wow

the bugle's horn the big Fi-diddle

and the hidey ho through the woods

we're gonna roam boys, through the woods we're gonna roam

come a loo come a loo come a high low

come down the merry stream

come a ran tan tan and a dippy dippy dow

hear the row the bow wow wow

the bugle's horn the big Fi-diddle

Songwriter: Gail Davies

"Grandma's Song" is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Gail Davies. The song was written as a tribute to her grandmother, Frances Marion Whitten. Davies features her grandmother's singing voice at the beginning of the track, singing part of "The Fox Hunting Song", a popular folk song.

Here are the lyrics that the grandmother sings at the beginning of the recording (link below)

The next I saw was a blind man, as blind as he could be

He said he saw Corina in the hollow tree

come a lou come a lou come a high low

down the merry stream

come a round down town come a dippy dippy dow

hear the row, the bow wow wow

bugle horn, the bid Fi-diddle and the hidey ho
