Let Him Have His Way With Thee

Would you live for Jesus, and be always pure and good?

Would you walk with Him within the narrow road?

Would you have Him bear your burden, carry all your load?

Let Him have His way with thee.

Refrain:

His pow’r can make you what you ought to be;

His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free;

His love can fill your soul, and you will see

’Twas best for Him to have His way with thee.

2

Would you have Him make you free, and follow at His call?

Would you know the peace that comes by giving all?

Would you have Him save you, so that you need never fall?

Let Him have His way with thee.

3

Would you in His kingdom find a place of constant rest?

Would you prove Him true in providential test?

Would you in His service labor always at your best?

Let Him have His way with thee.

PURE AND GOOD

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

NARROW ROAD

Matthew 7:12-14

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

BEAR YOUR BURDEN

Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

HIS POWER

John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

BLOOD CAN CLEANSE YOUR HEART

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

MAKE YOU FREE

Galatians 5:1

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

LOVE CAN FILL YOUR SOUL

Romans 5:5

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

FOLLOW AT HIS CALL

Matthew 4:18-20

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

PEACE

Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

YOU NEED NEVER FALL

Jude 24-25

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

CONSTANT REST

Hebrews 4:9-11

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

PROVIDENTIAL TEST

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

LABOR

Matthew 9:36-38

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

LET HIM HAVE HIS WAY WITH THEE

Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

It Won't Be Very Long

It won't be very long till this short life shall end,

It won't be very long till Jesus shall descend;

And then the dead in Christ from beds of clay shall rise

To meet the Lord and King up yonder in the skies.

Refrain:

It won't be very long,

It won't be very long

Till Jesus shall appear,

That day is drawing near;

Will you be ready then

To meet the ransomed throng?

Get ready for that day,

It won't be very long.

It won't be very long till here we cease to roam,

It won't be very long till all the saints get home;

And then with smiling face we'll walk the streets ofgold,

And sing the Savior's praise where saints are never old. [Refrain]

It won't be very long till burdens we lay down,

It won't be very long till we'll receive a crown;

And then we'll should and sing with angels round the throne,

And when we meet up there, we'll know as we are known. [Refrain]

It won't be very long till earth shall pass away,

It won't be very long till works of men decay;

But Jesus has prepared a happy dwelling place,

For all who look above and trust His matchless grave. [Refrain]

Matthew 24

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

An Empty Mansion

Here I labor and toil as I look for a home,

Just a humble abode among men,

While in Heaven a mansion is waiting for me

And a gentle voice pleading "come in".

Ever thankful am I that my Savior and Lord

Promised unto the weary sweet rest;

Nothing more could I ask than a mansion above,

There to live with the saved and the blest.

When my labor and toiling have ended below

And my hands shall lie folded in rest,

I'll exchange this old home for a mansion up there

And invite the arch angel as guest.

REFRAIN:

There's a mansion now empty, just waiting for me

At the end of life's troublesome way.

Many friends and dear loved ones will welcome me there

Near the door of that mansion some day.

John 14:1-3

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Can You Count the Stars of Evening

Can you count the stars of evening

That are shining in the sky?

Can you count the clouds that daily

Over all the world go by?

God the Lord, who doth not slumber,

Keepeth all the boundless number:

But He careth more for thee,

But He careth more for thee.

Can you count the birds that warble

In the sunshine all the day?

Can you count the little fishes

That in sparkling waters play?

God the Lord their number knoweth,

For each one His care He showeth:

Shall He not remember thee?

Shall He not remember thee?

Can you count the many children

In their little beds at night,

Who without a thought of sorrow

Rise again at morning light?

God the Lord, who dwells in heaven,

Loving care to each has given:

He has not forgotten thee,

He has not forgotten thee.

Hymn lyrics: Johann Wilhelm Hey; Translator: E. L. Jorgenson

Luke 12

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

For Me He Careth

Yes, for me, for me he careth

With loving tender care;

Yes, with me, with me he shareth

Each burden, and each fear.

Yes, o'er me, o'er me he watcheth,

Ceaseless watcheth, night and day;

Yes, e'en me, e'en me he snatcheth

From the perils of the way.

Yes, for me, he standeth pleading

At mercy's seat above;

Ever for me interceding,

In love, untiring love.

Yes, in me abroad he sheddeth

Joys unearthly, love and light;

And to cover me he spreadeth

His loving wings of might.

3

Yes, in me, in me he dwelleth!

In me and I in him.

And my soul with hope he filleth,

Tho' future plans are dim.

Thus I wait for his returning,

Singing all the way to heav'n;

Such the joyful song of morning,

Such tranquil song of ev'n.

Just Over in the Glory Land

1

I’ve a home prepared where the saints abide,

Just over in the gloryland;

And I long to be by my Savior’s side,

Just over in the gloryland.

I am on my way to those mansions fair,

Just over in the gloryland;

There to sing God’s praise, and His glory share,

Just over in the gloryland.

What a joyful thought that my Lord I’ll see,

Just over in the gloryland;

And with kindred saved, there forever be,

Just over in the gloryland.

With the bloodwashed throng I will shout and sing,

Just over in the gloryland;

Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King,

Just over in the gloryland.

Refrain:

Just over in the gloryland,

I’ll join the happy angel band,

Just over in the gloryland;

Just over in the gloryland,

There with the mighty host I’ll stand,

Just over in the gloryland.

Revelation 7:13-14

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 5:11-13

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

John 12:12-13

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

I Must Tell Jesus

I must tell Jesus all of my trials;

I cannot bear these burdens alone;

In my distress He kindly will help me;

He ever loves and cares for His own.

I must tell Jesus all of my troubles;

He is a kind, compassionate friend;

If I but ask Him, He will deliver,

Make of my troubles quickly an end.

O how the world to evil allures me!

O how my heart is tempted to sin!

I must tell Jesus, and He will help me

Over the world the vict'ry to win.

REFRAIN:

I must tell Jesus!

I must tell Jesus!

I cannot bear my burdens alone;

I must tell Jesus!

I must tell Jesus!

Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Lead Me Gently Home

Lead me gently home, Father,

Lead me gently home,

When life’s toils are ended,

And parting days have come,

Sin no more shall tempt me,

Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam,

If Thou’lt only lead me, Father,

Lead me gently home.

Lead me gently home, Father,

Lead me gently home,

In life’s darkest hours, Father,

When life’s troubles come,

Keep my feet from wandering,

Lest from Thee I roam,

Lest I fall upon the wayside,

Lead me gently home.

REFRAIN:

Lead me gently home, Father,

Lead me gently,

Lest I fall upon the wayside,

Lead me gently home.

Author: Will L. Thompson (1879)

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

When All of God's Singers Get Home

1

What a song of delight in that city so bright

Will be wafted 'neath heaven's fair dome

How the ransomed will raise happy songs in his praise.

When all of God’s singers get home

2

As we sing here on earth songs of sadness or mirth

'Tis a foretaste of rapture to come

But our joy can't compare with the glory up there

When all of God’s singers get home

3

Having overcome sin, hallelujah amen

Will be heard in that land 'er the foam

Every heart will be light and each face will be bright

When all of God’s singers get home

REFRAIN

When all of God's singers get home

Where never a sorrow (or heartaches) will come

There'll be no place like (heaven my) home

When all of God's singers get home

Author: Luther G. Presley

My grandmother's gravestone. We honored her wishes by singing the song at her funeral and putting the lyric on her tombstone. She's singing alto in the heavenly choir now.

Make the Rafters Ring

We can make music to make the rafters ring!

Our hearts will play the music for the songs our lips will sing.

This is the little church I grew up in. The Church of Christ in Watervliet, Michigan. Well, not really IN Watervliet -- actually several miles out in the country. Our little congregation had only a couple dozen people most Sundays. In the Church of Christ we didn't use any instrumental music. We used the only instrument authorized by the New Testament -- our voices. And when we started singing we really could make the rafters ring.
